Certified PreOwned Watch Repair & RestorationContact Us Our Guarantee Watch Repair Purchases How to Order Our Story TestimonialsWe expertly certify and restore the following
luxury watch brands:
Every watch that passes
through Gray & Sons goes through intense professional overhauling and detailing.
There is nothing left undone. Our Swiss trained watch makers and our watch
detailer fully restore all watches to
"Like-New" luster and condition. When a watch leaves Gray & Sons (whether the
watch is 5, 10, 20 or even 50 years old) it is pristine inside and out. Here is
how the process works: Pre-Owned Watch Restoration ProcessDisassembling The
mechanism is completely disassembled for inspection and cleaning.
Replacement Individual
parts are inspected and worn or broken parts are replaced with new factory
original ones.
Preparing for Cleaning Once we've
chosen the parts that are too worn to use we place the remaining pieces into
a wire basket.
Cleaning The wire
basket is then attached to the cleaning machine and submerged for a 4-step
cycle. a. Clean b. Rinse c. Rinse d. Dry
Assembly Now with
spotless parts the assembling can begin. This takes patience and an incredible
attention to detail. It is a job that requires a meticulous craftsman.
Regulated With assembling
complete we then place the watch in a machine that tests the movement for
amplitude, beat and timing. If it is regulated properly we then move on to
casing. If not, it will be adjusted as needed until it passes the test.
Case Tightening When regulating
time is completed we case the movement.
Pressure Checking The watch
will then be tested for water resistance according to exacting factory standards.
Final Control Check We then
place automatic watches on a wheel that mimics the movement of your wrist.
This study determines whether or not the auto wind mechanism is functioning
properly. Gray and Sons sells beautiful automatic
watch winders that do a similar job of keeping your luxury self-winding
watch running smoothly.
Pre-Owned Watch Case and Bracelet Restoration and DetailingNow with
the movement out we move on to the other parts of the watch. We make sure
everything looks
"like-new" by removing any scratches and build up. This is how the
process works:
UltraSonic We submerge
the watch bracelet and the case in the UltraSonic solution to remove general
build up.
Steam Clean Then we
proceed by steam cleaning the watch pieces making sure we remove any buildup
left in between the links or hard to clean places.
Drying We lay
the pieces down to dry before we move on to polishing.
Polishing Wheels The
case and bracelet are then polished using a series of polishing wheels. First,
the back of the bracelet and the clasp are polished with a satin finish. Then,
we use the black rouge polishing wheel to remove deep scratches, followed
by the red rouge for a final high polish and the last satin finish.
Jeweler If there
is any damage to the case or bracelet our on-the-premise jeweler repairs it
to a "like new"
condition.
